Why am I getting emails about someone’s catches?

Someone who keeps their fishing log in HookBook invited you to their Cheering Section. The first email is the invite, and nothing else comes unless you tap Count me in (they can send the invite again, once a day). Count me in opens a page where one more tap says yes. If your invite offers the HookBook app, the link for email is Just email me the cards and books, and it opens the same page. After that, you’ll hear from them only when they send you a card or book, never for each fish, and at most once a day. A link someone sent me won’t open.

They may have stopped sharing it, or deleted what it showed. A stopped link just says it isn’t shared any more. Ask them to send it again: sharing the same card or book again makes a fresh link.

How do I stop getting emails from someone’s Cheering Section?

Every HookBook note has two links at the bottom. Notification settings lets you turn email updates off and back on. Unsubscribe opens a page with one button, and nothing changes until you tap it, so an email filter that opens links can’t unsubscribe you by itself. That tap stops notes from that angler for good, unless you come back yourself from the link in any note. If you unsubscribe, the angler’s list shows you as opted out, but they never get a message about it. You’ll get at most one note a day from each angler. You never need a HookBook account for any of this.

How do I stop a link I sent?

Open the Share screen and find Your shared links. Every link that’s still working is listed there with its views, including Wrapped and Stringer links. Choose Stop sharing and confirm. From that moment nobody can open it: they’ll just see that it isn’t shared any more. Changed your mind? Share the same card or book again and it gets a fresh link to send; the old one stays off. Deleting a catch, a trip, a Memory Book you made or a slam stops its own link too.

Are my fishing spots private?

Yes. Your GPS locations are stored privately to your account and are never shown publicly or sold. Nothing you share carries them: no link, no Cheering Section note, no card, and no share-ready photo. The spot words you write on a catch, like “by the old dock”, and your city stay private too. The most anyone ever sees is the water’s name. Where you fish stays yours. There’s more on sharing safely in the User Guide once you’re signed in.

Billing questions or an unrecognized charge?

HookBook subscriptions are billed securely through Stripe, and charges appear on your statement as GETHOOKBOOK.COM. If you see a charge you don’t recognize, or want to dispute an unauthorized transaction, email support@hookbook.ai — a real person will investigate and make it right, including a refund when a charge wasn’t authorized. HookBook emails a reminder about 30 days before a yearly plan renews, and monthly plans get one reminder a year, about 30 days before each anniversary. You can update your card or cancel anytime from Premium → Manage billing in the app. Deleting your account cancels your subscription too.

Getting a copy or deleting your HookBook data

Want a copy of your fishing log? Email support@hookbook.ai from your account email and we’ll send you a copy of your fishing log, including your photos and video clips: every catch and trip you’ve logged. The photo and video clip links in it work for 7 days, so save the ones you want to keep. Planning to delete your account? Ask first — once it’s deleted, there’s nothing left to copy.
Delete a catch, video clip or photo — open the catch in your logbook, choose Edit, and delete it. The entry, its photos, its video clip, and its location pin are removed immediately. To remove only the video clip, open the catch, tap the trash button beside the video clip, then Remove.
Delete your entire account — go to Profile and choose Delete account. Your catches, photos, video clips, map pins, Memory Books and profile are permanently removed. Copies in our encrypted backups are cleared within 90 days. If you have a subscription, it’s canceled at the same moment, so you’re never charged again. A record of your purchases is kept for tax and accounting, as our Privacy Policy describes, and Stripe, our payment processor, keeps its own payment records, but not your card for future charges. If any part can’t finish at that moment, HookBook blocks sign-in and finishes it, usually within a day. Any fish or photos still waiting to sync on the phone you delete from are erased too.
